Weight Watchers

When I first started my running journey, I had hoped that it would help me lose some weight.  While I did lose some weight, I still have a ways to go.  I do a lot of running, plus Turbo Fire and Chalean Extreme.  All that working out makes me hungry!  I try to make good choices, like Shakeology and lots of fruits and veggies, but it’s time for some help.  I joined Weight Watchers today!

I did Weight Watchers a few years ago with some success.  The plan was different then.  We still counted Points, but back then the points were calculated from calories, fat and fiber.  Now, PointsPlus values are figured with carbs, protein, fat and fiber—not calories.  That is about all I know about the new PointsPlus, for now.  Oh, and fruits and veggies are all zero PointsPlus!  I am off to read my new program materials. I will keep you updated about how I am doing on the plan.

Have you tried the new Weight Watchers PointsPlus plan?  How did it work for you?  What did you think of the plan?  Any tips for a newbie?

A dream is a wish…

***I did my first Run Like a Fool virtual 5k run tonight with a friend.  When are you doing yours?

  1. Stick with the program, use their tips and make smart choices and it will work. I definitely like the new program. I had success with the old program too but I feel like this works better. I am just now getting back into my online membership. One thing most people(including myself) don't realize is that running really doesn't help you lose that much weight. It is the other stuff that does and the running just helps your endurance and stamina. That's why I just started Slim in 6 and I'm hoping that along with WW and running will help me see results faster.

  2. Hey! I do WW too! Be careful about the "free" fruit and veggies! I limit myself to 1 serving of one or the other at meals and/or snacks. I figured out early on that I was overestimating my fruit consumption! Also, i would recommend using a heart rate monitor versus activity points to figure out "extras". I found out I was overcalculating on some of my runs, etc. Best of luck!

  3. I've been doing WW since the New Year and so far have dropped about 12-13 pounds. I'm looking for a few more plans... maybe to 20 pounds. It really has helped me gain my self-confidence back because I have noticed clothes fitting better and I'm just feeling better. I've also liked it because if I plan my meals right, I'm really not avoiding any foods. Heck, I can have McDonalds if I really want to...

    1. I have definitely noticed a difference in speed since losing weight. I started with a 10-10 1/2 min miles and now I'm down to about 9 min miles!

  5. I've been doing WW for years and it works, in my opinion. I didn't care for the Points Plus, but that's just me. I do the old program and lost 20 pounds last year. I've got about 15 more to go this year to hit goal.

If you follow the program, you will lose weight with running. The issue with weight loss and running is you get hungry, which leads you to eat. Follow your points for the day while running and you'll lose. Running is like any type of exercise, and in the end, it's all about calories in and calories out essentially.

    Good luck!

  6. I started ww on January 3 of this year. Since then I've lost 26 pounds. I love how easy it is to track using my phone :) Makes it much easier to make good choices when out of the house for meals!
