Over the weekend, my family took a trip to my in-law’s beach house near Ocean City, MD. We had a great time and I got a chance to run early one morning. I have run this course before—down the blacktop road, then on a sandy path by the water, and then back on a blacktop road to the house. It is a short course, about three miles. I have decided this is my favorite place to run. The sandy area is challenging, while the blacktop is a good place to warm up and cool down. The scenery the entire time is so peaceful and really motivating. I really love running by the water. Yesterday morning was the most enjoyable run I have ever had.
This got me thinking, where is my favorite place to run? I do the majority of my running on the tread mill at the gym late in the evening after my kids are in bed. I don’t hate running on the treadmill, but I don’t love it either. I love running outside. I also run on a path around my neighborhood. The path is nice, but full of really steep hills, which I don’t enjoy. The path is a great place to run, but not work on time. It does not simulate most normal race terrain, but the hills are a great workout.
Where is your favorite place to run? Do you run inside or outside? What time of day?
A dream is a wish your heart makes......

My all time favorite place to run is in Cape Cod along the coast looking out towards Martha's Vineyard. I can't wait to get out and run/walk every day when we are up there. I started running on a treadmill and never liked running outside. Once I started running outside, I now do not enjoy running on the treadmill. It is hard to run outside by my house though. The roads are uneven and not well paved as they are country roads. There aren't many areas to run. We also have many bears around us and a few other large creatures that I hope to never run into, only hear in my backyard at night. If I could live in Cape Cod all year round just for the beautiful areas to walk/run in, I would move in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteI love running outside, but since I moved to Florida I've been running on a treadmill. I might try and hook up with someone at work who runs during lunch, but right now it's the treadmill...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite place to run was back to school in Santa Barbara CA. It was flat for the most part, right on the beach, and certain parts were just so calming. You never knew what you might see while out on a run... (eagles, foxes, dolphins, grey whales...)
Thanks Ladies! It seams we all love to run by the water. It's so beautiful, plus the coool breeze helps!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely missing the cool breeze during my runs...
